And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:8 (ESV)
As humans, we always have a line. Yes, I will volunteer my time, but not so much that I feel robbed. Yes, I will donate to this cause, but not enough that I can feel it. Yes, I will be kind to my family, but only if they are kind to me first. Yes, I will forgive you, but only if it is something I deem as forgivable. I don't know if we could be more conditional.
Jesus came down to this earth fully God and fully human. Although He was human, He didn't create lines like we are so quick to do. Imagine if Jesus came here and said, "Yes, I will cure you of your leprosy, but only if don't touch me. Yes, I will teach you the lessons of My Father, but only on the weekdays. Yes, I will allow you to follow me, but only if cater to all my wants and needs. Think about how much this would change our view of Jesus and our view of His love if He made conditions like this. In turn, imagine how much bigger our love could be for other people if we didn't make it conditional.
