Luke 17:7

“Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’?
Luke 17:7 (ESV)

"Come at once and recline at table." Do you find yourself saying this to your waitress when you and your family visit Olive Garden for a Friday night dinner? Of course not. We have the mindset that they are there to wait on us. If they didn't do their job then the workings of  restaurant would crumble. This doesn't mean to say that we don't appreciate what our waitress does, or that we have the right to be rude or impolite, but that there is an expectation of the duties of this job position.
Jesus has a very similar attitude towards us as His children. He appreciates that we give our lives to serve Him, but He also knows that it is a part of our job description. It is a part of our heart change. We can sell our house, give away our possessions, or even lose our life to serve Him and He would never tell us we went too far. We are unworthy of what He did for us and there is no amount of works we could do to deserve the sacrifice He made or take the place of that sacrifice. We are, and will always be, unworthy servants that owe everything to Him.
