Psalm 90:12

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom
Psalm 90:12 ESV

This is a verse with few words but lots of meaning. Two main points pop out at me. The first is time. In our day and age we are slaves to the clock. We plan our days out, we are constantly busy, and we often over schedule ourselves. Like anything else in our Christian walk, it's important to go to God with our schedules to see if we are walking in His Will for us. One of the ways we can do this is by going to His Word. In Ephesians 5:16, Paul writes, "[make] best use of the time, because the days are evil." Here, Paul speaks of the wickedness in the world and how we are supposed to use every moment we are given for good in the path of God's Will. We are told clearly in Proverbs 27:1, "do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring." We must be diligent in doing all we can do with the time we are given.
The second point I see spoken about in this Psalm is wisdom. A word that is used many times in God's Word. Biblical wisdom is often described more in actions than as a definition. James 3:17 speaks of wisdom as, "pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere." Obviously, none of these actions are of the flesh so naturally, they won't always be our first  reaction when life happens. Luckily, James gives us comfort in verse five of his book, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him."
This verse if very applicable to my time here in Guatemala. With three months in training, six months in the field, a month of reentry, and two months of service, it is easy for me to count down the days until the next stage of the program. I need to learn to be present in the moment and look to what God is trying to teach me today. Thankfully, IGNITE training is the perfect place to work on that while also working on divine wisdom! Living with over 42 people allows a lot of time to work on peace, gentleness, reason, mercy, etc.
