Philippians 2:5,6

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped
Philippians 2:5-6 (ESV)

When Jesus came down to Earth He knew He was a part of the Trinity. He knew His place, but He also knew His purpose. "King for a slave, laying His majesty aside, You reached out in love to show me life." Despite his majesty and His position, Jesus gave us the example of lowering Himself before God so He could accomplish what was needed to give us eternal life with God. Just in the Book of John, Jesus submits himself before the Father eleven different times. For example, John 5:19, "the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what He sees the Father doing." John 5:30, "I can do nothing on My own. As I hear I judge, and my judgement is just because I seek not My own will but the will of Him who sent me." John 7:16, "My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me."
What can we learn from this example Christ has given us? Personally, I learned absolute submission. We don't get to choose when we like or don't like what the Father wants for us. Just like Jesus, we need to follow His Word not only because it is His command, but because who God is Himself. As it is written in Revelation 1:8, "I am the Alpha and the Omega....Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty." Jesus knew who His Father was and is and is to come and He served Him in that manner. His life was a testament to His Father and we should live the same way. One of the best ways we can witness to non believers is to carry out our knowledge of God. With that, we must ask ourselves, are we ready to submit absolutely?
